CliftonLarsonAllen is seeking an experienced Audit Manager for our Lexington, MA Client Service Location. The Manager (Assurance) performs and oversees significant audit and review engagements for our clients, builds lasting relationships, and assures continued close personal attention to client needs. Work Activities & Accountabilities The below functions reflect the general details of the essential work activities and accountabilities of this position and are not all inclusive. Other activities may be assigned.
Service Specialization: Clients may be in any industry with a need for a technical expert, or the Manager may be industry focused.
Assurance: Assume full responsibility for planning, supervising, and controlling all phases of the firm's regular services for those clients delegated by principals. Delegate or assume in-charge responsibility; project and plan the timing of the workload to promote the most efficient operation of the staff. Lead the decision making process for assigned engagements/clients; keep the engagement principal fully informed of major decisions, engagement progress, the client's situation, and potential problems. Follow the engagement progress through monitoring time budgets and deadlines for adherence; communicate important developments to the engagement principal along with facts, conclusions and recommendations; provide ongoing attention to client management; and prepare final client meetings. Evaluate internal controls and audit programs prepared by staff, revise as necessary, and present to the engagement principal for approval. Delegate or supervise preparation of the engagement letter for approval by the engagement principal, discuss the nature and terms of the assignment with the client, estimate fees, and ensure client signs and returns the engagement letter prior to the start of the engagement.
Supervisory: Develop a responsible and trained staff through assistance in recruiting, planning assignments, resolving problems, providing direct consultation to staff, evaluating staff performance, and acting as an instructor or discussion leader in professional development programs. The Manager works with a variety of Associates, Managers, Directors and Principals on assigned projects. S/he is involved in multiple client engagements that include a variety of different reporting relationships. S/he reports directly to a Director, or Principal. The Manager may take on responsibilities of a career coach. S/he may also be in a position to delegate work to Associates on routine engagements. The Manager continues to work with a career coach for professional and career development.
Technical Competencies: General knowledge of accounting principles and/or regulations impacting each engagement or project, financial markets, analysis and reporting of financial data. Understand internal software systems including Pfx Fixed Assets, GoFileRoom, Pfx Engagement, Pfx Tax, etc. Proficiency with Microsoft (MS) Windows and Office products. Experience: A minimum of six (6) years of public accounting experience with emphasis in financial statement preparation and audits
Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
