We're hiring a Staff Accountant to join our Financial Services outsourcing practice in our Eau Claire. office. As a member of CLA's outsourcing practice, you will provide customized short and long-term finance and accounting services to our clients so they can focus on managing their organizations. In this role, you will support a variety of accounting functions for our clients including processing transactions, completing non-complex account reconciliations and financial statements, and support our clients' accounting function. Job Description The Staff Accountant is responsible for processing transactions, completing non-complex account reconciliations, and preparing non-complex financial statements. S/he may identify client issues concerning generally accepted accounting principles. The Staff Accountant supports the accounting function, inclusive of transactional processing, account reconciliations, and preparation of financial statements. Begins to fully understand the accounting principles (FASB / SFAS) specifically related to particular industry. Work Activities & Accountabilities The below functions reflect the general details of the essential work activities and accountabilities of this position and are not all inclusive. Other activities may be assigned.
Account Reconciliations: Completes non-complex account reconciliations, such as bank reconciliations, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and other balance sheet accounts.
Financial Statements: Prepares non-complex financial statements and required work papers to support the financial statements.
Transactional Processing: Accounts Payable / Cash Disbursements Processing, accounts receivable / cash receipts processing, and payroll processing or coordination.
Technical Expertise: Develop and maintain a thorough working knowledge of accounting software packages. Gains a thorough understanding of the financial operations of industry specific engagements (i.e. non profit, health care, manufacturing, etc). Organizational Interfaces The Staff Accountant reports directly to Senior Accountant or an Accounting Manager/Controller/CFO. He or she regularly interacts with local service leaders. S/he works independently on clients with minimal supervision and begins to assume a supervisory role relative to Accountants I and II working on mutual engagements. S/he will typically spend 90% of time on client assignments (majority at client locations). Minimum Required Experience, Education, and Certifications
Experience: Proficiency and aptitude for applicable software (Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, etc).
Education: BA/BS degree in accounting or related field required.
Certifications/Licenses: none required.
