Responsible for in-charging engagements of varying size and complexity simultaneously
Perform a wide range of audit, accounting and compliance procedures impacting industry-specific issues.
Audit complex areas/transactions as well as prepare financial statements and related reports Schedule, delegate, and review the work of staff
Supervise, train, and mentor staff
Keep manager/principal aware of engagement status and problem areas. Assist with preparation of the engagement letter for approval by the engagement principal, discuss the nature and terms of the assignment with the client, estimate fees, and ensure client signs and returns the engagement letter prior to the start of the engagement.
Proactively interact and communicate with clients to gather information to ensure timely engagement wrap-up
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting or related field
3+ years public accounting experience with emphasis in financial statement preparation, audits, and single audit compliance
Prior experience with an established public accounting and/or professional services firm preferred
Current CPA or eligibility to sit for the CPA exam preferred
Prior experience servicing clients in the Public Sector – Higher Education preferred
Prior experience auditing student financial aid programs -preferred ability to travel to client sites that may also require overnight travel
Strong communication and analytical skills. Ability to show strong leadership and mentoring capabilities
Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
