SmithBucklin, a 100 percent employee-owned association management company, is looking for an experienced Corporate Accountant to join our team in Chicago. In joining our Corporate Finance team, you will have the opportunity to explore various areas of finance and accounting in a fast-paced, consultative environment.
What You Will Do
Perform a range of accounting and analytical tasks in addition to interpreting financial reports and data to ensure accuracy, completeness and compliance with company and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
Oversee accounting operations for service units and overhead units
Prepare and distribute customized financial reports by established monthly deadlines while ensuring for the quality, timeliness and integrity of data
Prepare balance sheet account reconciliations on a monthly basis
Collaborate with senior management of service units to produce detailed, monthly analytical reports including variance reports and trend analysis
Evaluate monthly financial results with CFO and Controller, noting business results and trends
Serve as a key contributor in assuring adherence to monthly financial closing schedule (within 10 business days)
Provide support for the monthly forecasts and annual budgets
Assist with monthly board reports and act as a resource during the annual audit

You have a proven analytical ability and strong project management skills
You possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to confidently work with upper-level management and executives
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year institution with a concentration in Accounting
1-3 years of related accounting experience
3.0 GPA minimum requirement
CPA is a plus
High level of proficiency in Excel, Epicor and FRx software is a plus
Proficiency with basic computer programming, including the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
