ACCOUNTING: The Department of Business Administration and Accounting at Hartwick College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor starting in August, 2018, pending final administrative approval. We seek candidates with expertise in Accounting, with preference given to those with an Accounting or Finance Ph.D. and professional experience, especially in the area of tax law, auditing, and compliance. Minimum qualifications include a current CPA license and either an M.B.A., an M.S. Accounting, or a JD by the time of the appointment. Alternative current professional certifications by the time of appointment (CIA, CMA, CFA) may be considered in place of the CPA given appropriate experience. Specific teaching assignments will include Financial and Managerial Accounting, Taxation, Auditing, Operations, and other Accounting courses to meet the needs of the department as well as possibly Business Law and general education courses, including First Year Seminars. Teaching load will average 20 semester credit hours or their equivalent per academic year, and all faculty members teach during the College’s distinctive four-week January Term. Our department embraces entrepreneurship and promotes experiential and community-based learning in a small undergraduate liberal arts setting. The successful candidate must be committed to excellence and innovation in undergraduate teaching, active engagement in scholarly or creative activities, and working closely with students in a small college environment. Committee service and academic advising also are expected for tenure and promotion.
