The Revenue Accounting Manager position will participate in the monthly close on a GAAP and Statutory basis, establishing accounting policies, support best practices with a primary focus on Revenue and Reinsurance accounting areas. This person is a member of the Finance team and will need to be self-driven and motivated. The ideal candidate will have a willingness to learn, the desire to lend a hand wherever necessary and can work in a fast-paced environment.
ESSENTIAL Job Duties & Responsibilities
Participate in all aspects of the monthly financial close process
Manage various functional or operational areas within accounting, which could include revenue, reinsurance, and DAC and determined by the department needs.
Support the SEC filing and reporting requirements
Support the preparation of the audited statutory statements, audited GAAP statements and various state filings
Work with the management team to identify and analyze key operating metrics, then prepare these reports in a timely and accurate manner
Support the maintenance of general and subsidiary ledgers
Assists in the development and implementation of policies, priorities, and procedures.
Provide oversight and support for SOX and MAR documentation
Hire, train and develop members of the Corporate Accounting Team
Coordinate with other reporting groups to ensure consistent reporting
Lead and support ad hoc projects as required
Perform ad hoc responsibilities, as needed.

ESSENTIAL SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Will manage NMI staff
Undergraduate Degree (Accounting Major preferred)
5 or more years of industry or public accounting experience
CPA certification or MBA preferred or working to achieve same
Excellent written and oral communication skills
