Partner with operations to lead and monitor inventory accuracy and physical inventory process.
Properly account for and track inventory acquired in acquisitions.
Support and coordinate all inventory/COGS accounting projects among all teams.
Document controls, processes and procedures related to inventory and COGS accounting and ensure compliance.
Maintain exceptional relationships with business partners and accounting peers to address information analysis and reporting needs.
Prepare accounting schedules routinely and as requested for internal and external reporting requirements.
Lead cross functional working teams in developing new inventory metrics and tracking mechanisms to enable regular operational/finance reviews by management.
Ensure subledger balances to general ledger and resolve any variances.
Prepare inventory roll-forwards and analysis for management review.
Develop and support a cycle count program for organization.
Provide oversight to consignment inventories ensuring accuracy in reporting and counts.
Assist with the annual financial audit. Ensures audit preparedness for financial records, processes and controls. Coordinate audit requests and ensure deliverables are provided within the requested time frame.

Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in Accounting, Finance, or related field from a four-year college or university
3-5 years related experience in inventory accounting or public accounting experience with retail, distribution or manufacturing clients
Public accounting experience preferred
Inventory and COGS experience
Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel
Strong knowledge of US GAAP; retail experience preferred but not required.
Detail oriented, but able to see the big picture
Demonstrated history of problem solving
Communication skills – ability to talk to all levels
Knowledge of and proficiency in an ERP such as Oracle, SAP or Infor
Exceptional interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills

The Inventory Accountant is responsible for the accounting, reconciliation and reporting of inventory and cost of goods sold in accordance with company policies and US GAAP. The Inventory Accountant performs accounting, forecasting, and internal reporting for all inventory-related balance sheet and cost of goods sold income statement accounts. In addition to performing traditional accounting activities, the Inventory Accountant provides subject-matter expertise to brand/corporate initiatives, including, among other things, new system implementations, preparation of various reports and analyses for management and other departments within the company.
