The National Council for Behavioral Health is seeking a Staff Accountant. The incumbent will function as a member of the Finance and Administration Team and report to the Director of Finance.
The Staff Accountant is part of an eight-person accounting team and participates in various aspects of the accounting function. Primary duties include: performs various financial analysis as financial liaison, produces project and financial reports and performs account reconciliations; prepares customer invoicing and leads collections; assists, as needed, to support accounts payable function; and participates on requests for proposal business submissions. Other duties include: support for month-end close and annual audit and budgeting; maintenance accounting software and accounting files; back up for other team member duties; and other duties as assigned.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Performs Various Financial Analysis, Produces Project and Financial Reports, acts as Finance Liaison to Project Managers and Performs Account Reconciliations
Performs financial analysis such as costing or profitability analysis on various projects and reports
Assigned the Financial Liaison for a portfolio of the organization’s projects
Answers Project Manager questions and assists with year-end projections
Produces a variety of financial and project reports for management, PMs and customers
Performs reconciliations of various company accounts/projects/tasks; includes reconciliations to ensure full billings of training and consulting engagements
Prepares Customer Invoicing and Leads Collections
Produces a variety of customer invoices (includes government contract and grants) to include any required supporting documentation
Reviews account receivable aging reports and drives collection efforts as necessary; and produces collection report on A/R aging status
Assists with Accounts Payable Function
As needed, assists with excess accounts payable processing
Acts as backup and support for various aspects of accounts payable function
Participates on Request for Proposal Business Submissions
Teams to produce required business proposal schedules and requirements
Helps with electronic submission or assembly of necessary submission materials
Other Accounting Duties
Supports month-end close process; includes, investigation of variances, reconciliation of accounts, etc.
Handles and produces requests for information and necessary schedules for annual audit
Teams to support annual budget process (i.e. prepares budget templates or budgets accounts)
Teams to maintain accounting software (MS Dynamics SL), Microsoft CRM and files for various accounting documents and files Cross-trained as back-up for other accounting duties
Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in accounting is required
Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook is required
Minimum of one to two years of accounting department experience is required
Experience using Microsoft Dynamics SL or other project accounting software is helpful
Experience in government grants or contracts and with non-profits is helpful
Outstanding attention to detail is essential
Superior professionalism, judgment and integrity is required
Strong organizational and analytical skills is required
Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment is needed
