Deeper Africa, a Boulder, Colorado award winning African safari operator, is looking for a full-time employee to join our team working as a Full Charge Bookkeeper. We seek a grounded, mature, skilled individual to provide sound financial leadership to help grow the company. A college degree in accounting, business, or finance is required, plus 5 years of experience working as a Full Charge bookkeeper. Experience in the travel industry is a plus.
We are an entrepreneurial-oriented, growing safari company. We offer exceptional wildlife viewing to our travelers, so they can see Africa with new eyes. We intend to be a part of Africa’s future by helping to support and train a new generation of guides, business men and women, and accounting professionals. Duties and responsibilities for our Full Charge Bookkeeper:
1.Manage all aspects of accounts receivable, accounts payable, and cash flow 2.Preparation of monthly and quarterly tax reports, payroll preparation, and maintenance of records for employee time off accruals 3.Create pricing worksheets and invoices for our travelers, process credit card payments and follow-up on overdue payments 4.Generate checks to pay vendors and assist in accounts payable and wire transfers to African vendors. 5.Monthly bank reconciliations, as well as budgeting and forecasting 6.Prepare monthly financial statements, monthly sales reports, and other reporting requested by management 7.Prepare annual 1099’s, W2s, and assist our accountants in preparation of company tax returns, and may 8.Assist with formal establishment of accounting processes 9.Other administrative functions as needed by management
This is a fast paced, results driven, hard-working position. The job is hands on and detail-oriented. We need an employee who is self-motivated and can communicate with the owners, staff, and our partners in Africa. We hold ourselves to the highest standards and expect the same of employees.
Critical skills required are:
1.Experience with QuickBooks accounting software 2.Highly skilled with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Adobe Acrobat. Provide us with as much experience as possible about your computer and technology skills and your QuickBooks skills. 3.Team player – Punctual, attentive to detail, outgoing, and willing to work across cultures with our Africa partners. Be able to work harmoniously within a small team environment. Attention to detail, especially in written and oral communication. To be successful you need to care about the small stuff. 4.Punctuality – Must be in the office during business hours and focused on tasks. 5.Multi-tasking, multi-tasking, multi-tasking. We have operations in eight different countries. 6.Positive attitude and excellent customer service skills. To be successful you need patience, compassion, and tact. 7.Self-motivated and able to problem solve and identify ways to be more productive. 8.Work independently with the ability to anticipate upcoming needs. 9. Excellent time management skills.
Additional Salary Information: Salary commensurate with experience. Benefits include health, vision, and dental insurance, paid time off for holidays, paid sick leave and personal time, and paid vacation. Full time schedule or part time schedule of at least 32 hours per week will be considered.
