Witt/Kieffer has been retained by University of Iowa Health Care (UI Health Care) to assist in recruitment efforts for their next Associate Vice President and Chief Financial Officer (AVP/CFO). This is an unparalleled opportunity for an executive with a desire to lead a prestigious team of financial professionals and serve as an integral leader of UI Health Care during this time of transformative change across the healthcare industry. The new leader will be part of a system that educates health professionals and scientists and provides leading-edge patient care, community service and ground-breaking research for the citizens of the State of Iowa and the world.
The AVP/CFO will be responsible and accountable for the overall financial stewardship and financial management of UI Health Care (hospital and clinics, medical school and faculty plan). He/she will coordinate financial activities at UI Health Care with those of the University of Iowa and, as such, work closely and collaboratively with the University treasurer and other University of Iowa financial and administrative service providers. He/she will develop and maintain a strong working relationship with the UI Health Care governing Board, the State of Iowa Board of Regents and its staff. Reporting to the Vice President for Medical Affairs and Dean, UI Carver College of Medicine, the next AVP/CFO for UI Health Care will serve as a key member of an outstanding leadership team at one of the most comprehensive and advanced academic healthcare systems in the country.
The ideal candidate will be a strategic financial leader and possess excellent communication and financial management skills, coupled with the ability to oversee operations and evaluate financial processes and outcomes. The new AVP/CFO will be a collaborative and visible leader who maximizes growth and opportunities in a dynamic healthcare environment.

The ideal candidate will possess a master’s in business administration, finance, accounting, or related field. CPA and/or Fellow of the Health Care Financial Management Association is desired. Ten or more years of substantial progressive healthcare finance experience, including experience as a CFO (or strong number two in a similarly complex organization). Preference is for academic medical center or major teaching hospital and/or public institution experience with a solid understanding of hospital and physician reimbursement practices and regulations.
