Gould Construction is a fast paced, growing heavy and highway construction company with its headquarters located in Glenwood Springs, CO, and has a great opportunity for a full-time Senior Staff Accountant.
Position Summary: The right candidate will report to the Vice President of Finance and will be responsible for financial statement preparation, management reporting, treasury management, external audits, corporate taxes, planning and analysis and general, administrative, and job cost control. In addition, this person will aid in designing, developing, and maintaining policies and procedures that are both
GAAP and tax compliant and supportive of the business.
The ideal candidate will be a hands-on self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment and possesses the initiative and desire to continuously improve processes and performance.
The candidate must have the ability to understand the details in an area as well as the ability to summarize and communicate those details to the Vice President of Finance and other senior management within the Company.
•Prepares and analyzes detail monthly financial statements which summarize the company’s financial position, results of operations and cash flows •Prepares monthly management reports including budget and prior year comparison analysis •Assists in the strategic planning process, directs the preparation of the fiscal year budget and prepares monthly financial forecasts •Prepares other company specific reports and analysis on an as needed basis •Assists in the financial planning, due diligence and analysis of proposed corporate, financing and vendor transactions •Review and enhance accounting processes and general ledger reporting capabilities, including documenting •Establish, implement and maintain internal accounting controls, policies and procedures to ensure all financial transactions are executed and documented in accordance with GAAP •Resolve daily operational accounting and reporting issues •Analyze balance sheet to ensure accruals are properly stated, reconciliations properly prepared and support for balance sheet accounts are properly maintained •Analyze expense trends to assure accruals are properly stated at month-end •Cash planning and cash management for the company •Work with external tax advisors in preparation of federal and state income tax, sales & use tax and property tax returns •Engage actively in the areas of cost-saving efficiencies, process improvements, internal controls, and compliance •Ensure proper communication to Vice President of Finance of business and accounting issues or changes as they occur •Work as a networked partner with other members of the management team

Required Experience and Skills:
•A minimum of four years financial accounting experience •CPA with a minimum of two years public accounting experience •Strong understanding and experience in functional accounting areas •Solid technical skills - must have strong operational accounting and financial reporting skills and must demonstrate a clear understanding of GAAP •Ability to interface well with team and senior management •BS/BA degree in Accounting or Finance •Direct construction experience a plus
