The Office of the Treasurer at The College of New Jersey is seeking a Controller who will provide administrative leadership for the College’s financial information systems and payroll operations.
The Controller will be required to provide leadership for the transformational Oracle Financial Cloud implementation that will result in increased efficiency and effectiveness of the College’s business operations, processes and practices.
Supervise the College's financial information systems, including Oracle Cloud Financials and PeopleSoft modules (purchasing, accounts payable, accounts receivables, billing, general ledger, grants, capital projects, budget and planning), and various interfaces to the accounting system.
Provide leadership for functional teams engaged in business process improvement initiatives, evaluating existing business processes and implementing best practices and customer-focused process improvements.
Supervise staff in the payroll and financial systems units, including conducting performance reviews and provides guidance and counsel and recommends personnel and policy actions in accordance with College goals.
Develop and implement best practice internal controls policies and procedures to enhance fiscal management, oversight, transparency and accountability.
Assess, re-engineer and streamline job responsibilities and business processes to increase efficiencies and strengthen internal controls.
Serve as senior manager/client to direct the configuration and financial operation of the College’s PeopleSoft financial system, including strategic direction on system upgrades and campus-wide financial reporting.
Assist the Treasurer and other senior leadership of the division with the implementation of the division’s strategic plan and other duties as assign.
Graduation from an accredited college with a bachelor's degree or Master's degree in Finance or Technology. Licensed Certified Public Accountant preferred but not required.
Minimum of five years supervisory/management experience and excellent communication skills.
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, diverse environment and stay abreast of the latest trends in public higher education institutions.
Ability to prepare clear, concise and effective financial presentations for senior management, governance, and external constituents.
Ability to develop, implement, and monitor policies and procedures to enhance financial management and internal controls. Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and complete ad-hoc projects as assigned by manager.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and experience utilizing Oracle/PeopleSoft financial management system preferred.
