Under the guidance of the SIUE Budget Director and Senior Financial Specialist, the Accounting Associate, Financial Analyst will assist with the preparation of the University's Operating Budget including planning, development, continual monitoring, and reporting as needed. As part of their budgeting duties, he or she will aid in the development of SIUE's section of annual SIU Budget Book, help manage the Microsoft Access budget database, and participate in the year-end budget closeout. The Financial Analyst will analyze financial projections and prepare a variety of financial analyses, as well as promptly respond to requests for data from various individuals and organizations, including the SIU President's Office, SIUE Chancellor, Illinois Board of Higher Education (IBHE), and the Illinois State Legislature. Additional assignments will include departmental billings, budget transfers, funding distribution, tracking of the central funds accounts, and providing updates for the SIUE budget website.

Minimum Qualifications: (A) Bachelor’s degree with a major in Accountancy, Finance or a related field AND two (2) years of professional level accounting experience in budgeting (planning, developing, monitoring and reporting). OR (B) Possession of a current registration as a Certified Public Accountant, Certified Management Accountant, or a valid License to practice Public Accounting. OR (C) Master’s degree or MBA in Accountancy, Finance, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications: -Two (2) years of demonstrated experience using Microsoft Excel to produce analytical and written reports. -Experience with Microsoft Access. -Ability to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines without close supervision. -Good verbal and written communication skills. -Must be a self starter who looks for areas needing improvement and finds better ways of doing things.
