The Reimbursement Specialist position exist to secure reimbursement owed to the state of Minnesota for care and treatment provided to state facilities by preforming timely and accurate billing of services to client, insurance and other payors.
Verify information gathered via the financial investigations and ensure billing determinations are in order to maximize reimbursements for the cost of care.
Monitor data input into the billing system so that all billing and control account activities are recorded and properly documented.
Perform monthly account reviews in order to assure accuracy and compliance with applicable statues, rules, standards and procedures. This includes adjustments and redetermination when appropriate.
Provide general and case-specific information about the billing functions to program staff, governmental agencies, and interested parties.
Prepare reports and documents so that program management and staff have the information they need to proceed with other operations and projects.
2 years of advanced administrative support, paraprofessional, or technical experience, in business, coding, accounting or finance.
Working knowledge of Correct Procedural Terminology (CPT) and International Classification of Diseases – Ninth and Tenth Revision (ICD-9 and 10)
Associate's Degree in business, coding, accounting or finance, may substitute for one year of experience.
Bachelor's Degree in business, coding, accounting or finance.
Medical terminology and health insurance policies, procedures and reimbursement practices
Computer skills at level necessary for working efficiently in company's practice management system and/or electronic medical record
