Now, our Connecticut Chapter is embarking on an exciting 5-year fundraising campaign to expand the scope of our work across the state (and globally). The Nature Conservancy in Connecticut – the third oldest field office – is an innovator and incubator for many local-to-global conservation strategies, including conservation easements, climate resilience planning tools, green urban infrastructure, marine planning and freeing river flows. The Director for Finance and Operations will provide overall direction and leadership for all finance and operations functions within the business unit. This position will report to and work in close collaboration with the State Director and serve as a thought partner to the State Director and, ideally, execute on the chapter’s vision by attracting, shepherding and deploying the necessary resources while working closely with a multitude of stakeholders including the chapter’s management team, board of trustees and the internal TNC network as well as external vendors and partners. We appreciate collaborative approaches and encourage innovative ideas and recommendations. The ideal candidate will have a background and track record that includes:
·Bachelor’s degree and 5 years related experience or equivalent combination, including 2 years managing operations functions.
· Finance / Accounting experience
· Experience managing and implementing multiple projects.
·Experience generating financial reports, and analyzing and interpreting data.
·Experience developing and administering departmental budget or equivalent.
·Experience managing teams with a commitment to respecting team dynamics, and a strong ability to understand and credit diverse perspectives, and synthesize multiple perspectives to achieve the best outcome
·Experience developing, managing, and implementing goals, plans, and complex processes
·Cross cultural and multilingual skills appreciated
·Successful experience implementing strategic program goals.
·Non-profit GAAP accounting experience
