Teach all levels of accounting including computerized accounting courses both in the classroom during the day or evening and online;
participate in curriculum development; create pathways to address needs of local employers and SMC students, including CEU seeking accountants;
engage in the expansion and implementation of assessments for courses, programs and learning outcomes with the goal of increasing student success;
participate in textbook adoption with persistence toward providing low cost options for students; engage in academic and career advisement;
serve as an active committee member in college, departmental, and student organizations;
maintain currency in subject matter and instructional techniques and
engage in development of instructional support strategies and interventions, including tutoring, early alert and peer mentoring.
Master's in accountancy or business administration with accounting concentration
Bachelor's in business with accounting emphasis or business administration with accounting emphasis or economics with an accounting emphasis
Master's in business, business administration, business education, economics, taxation, finance or the equivalent.
(NOTE: A bachelor's degree in accountancy or business administration with accounting concentration, with a CPA license is an alternative qualification for this discipline.). Evidence of sensitivity to and understanding of the socioeconomic, academic, cultural and ethnic diversity within the college student population including students with physical and/or learning disabilities as these factors relate to differences in learning styles.
Industry and/or teaching experience in one or more of the following areas: auditing, cost or advanced accounting; industry experience at a CPA firm or corporation; possess experience in teaching college courses, developing and teaching courses for online delivery, or have comparable instructional experience.
Recent experience working with African American, Latinx, Native American, and other racially minoritized students in the classroom; and a willingness to use culturally responsive instructional practices.
