OneMain is currently seeking qualified candidates to fill a VP/MD - Assistant Controller Role leading our Corporate Accounting Team and the Close and Reporting process. This position will be structured around the Accounting Close, Financial Reporting and Technical Research relating to SEC filings and corporate accounting opinions/briefs affecting company wide decisions. This Role will work closely with senior leadership, FP&A, Investor Relations, Treasury and Capital Markets working through business initiatives and structured transactions. We are looking for a dynamic individual with strong leadership skills as this role will lead a team of 30+ team members. We are looking for someone who can inspire a vision, empower the team and challenge the process. This role will also work closely with external auditors, managing the audit process, thus an understanding of audit process and methodology is a plus.
This role will report to the Senior Vice President, Principal Accounting Officer, Corporate Controller.
Successful candidates will be able to execute the following duties:
Lead a team, driving ownership and accountability, discipline in the accounting close and reporting process
Ability to work collaboratively across the department and the broader organization
Ability to interact effectively with senior leadership
Ability to find and develop talent within your organization
Transaction analysis including strategic accounting for securitizations, acquisitions and other business initiatives working closely with Technical Accounting, Tax and SEC reporting colleagues and financial leaders
Interact and coordinate with external auditors to address technical issues
Develop, challenge, and implement new corporate accounting policies/procedures in collaboration with the Vice President, Director of Accounting Policy
Generation of ad hoc reports and decision briefs based upon technical accounting issues translatable to a broad audience
Identify opportunities to drive efficiencies and reduce risk in the process
Produce, edit, and revise SEC reports. Experience generating reports utilizing technical research and writing skills will be crucial to the success of any individual in this position
Lead the monthly/quarterly close and reporting process
Work collaboratively with FP&A, Treasury, Policy/Tech in the close process
Continue to enhance close process to increase efficiency and reduce risk
Interpret and apply guidance to support appropriate accounting positions in consistent, repeatable manner
Candidates applying to this position will be considered based upon the following demonstrated qualifications:
CPA or CPA candidate
Bachelor's degree in Accounting
MBA or Master’s Degree in Accounting a plus
8 years of progressive experience in an accounting, accounting policy or reporting functions preferred
Public Accounting experience with a national or large regional firm
Exceptional technical research and writing skills
Exceptional communications skills, both oral and written
Ability to think, and work, independently resolving challenging issues
Consumer Lending and Finance experience a plus
Travel up to 20%
