Moveable Feast, a 501 c 3 nonprofit agency that provides more than 700,000 nutritious home-delivered meals to nearly 5,000 individuals/year living with life threatening illnesses seeks full time (exempt/salaried) Finance Director/CFO oversee fiscal management and human resource functions of the organization. Position reports to Executive Director/CEO.
POSITION AVAILABLE: FINANCE DIRECTOR/CFO
Assist Executive Director/CEO in maintaining the organization’s fiscal responsibility.
Participate as an active member of the Executive Office staff.
Maintain a high level of communication and positive interpersonal interaction with all employees.
Coordinate the preparation, implementation and monitoring of the organization's budget, in collaboration with the Executive Director/CEO and Operations Director.
Establish finance/accounting policies, procedures, controls and reporting systems, in collaboration with the Executive Director/CEO.
Provide status of financial condition of the organization by collecting, interpreting, and reporting key financial data to Executive Director/CEO and Board of Directors.
Produce monthly and annual fiscal reports, with variance of actual activity to budget projections.
Supervise the Accountant, Staff Accountant, and Human Resource Administrator in daily execution of fiscal and personnel functions and evaluates job performances.
Along with the Executive Director/CEO, participate in the development and management of employee compensation plans.
Develop and maintain relationships with insurance brokers.
Administer employee benefits (medical, disability, retirement, FSA, etc.)
Work with the Executive Director/CEO to develop the annual budget.
Develop and monitor organization’s budget and cash flow.
Track financial status and produce progress reports.
Ensure Financial Management System and procedures capture accounting information, as required.
Oversee operating budgets and exercise control to safeguard that expenditures do not exceed budgetary limits.
Monitor inventory tracking systems of supplies and equipment.
Make certain that fiscal deadlines and reporting requirements are met and appropriate data provided.
Maintain monthly general ledger and financial statements.
Ensure legal and regulatory compliance for all accounting and financial reporting functions.
Direct costs, general accounting, accounts receivable, accounts payable and process checks for payments.
Oversee Paychex payroll and time clock platforms.
Collaborate with the Board of Directors’ Finance Committee and appropriate staff to develop and oversee the organization’s expenditures and revenues as it relates to the mission and overall strategic goals.
Assist Board designated auditor(s) with the annual audit.
Perform monthly internal auditing functions.
Audit contracts, orders and vouchers before processing.
Assist with grant proposals and monitors grant compliance.
Ensure that grant requirements are fulfilled inclusive of monthly, quarterly and fiscal reporting of program operations and expenditures.
Assist with other projects or duties in conjunction with the Executive Director/CEO.
Other Responsibilities & Duties:
Adhere to all Federal Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations, by protecting the privacy & security of all patient/client health information.
Participate in advocacy activities that support Moveable Feast’s mission & annual fund raising events.
Participate in departmental & organization meetings as appropriate.
Represent Moveable Feast’s excellence in service in the community.
Knowledge of & adherence to Moveable Feast’s Mission & Philosophy.
Knowledge of & adherence to Moveable Feast’s Personnel Policies & Procedures.
Any & all duties as assigned, within scope of knowledge, skills, & abilities.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred.
Bachelor degree in Finance/Accounting or related field. MBA or related graduate degree, preferred.
Minimum 5 years’ recent experience as Chief Financial Officer and/or Finance Director, preferably in a nonprofit environment.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Practice requirements; advanced financial policies, procedures & regulations; long-term strategic preparing, planning & forecasting budgetary needs; current employment laws & regulations; automated accounting systems and government regulations. Skilled in MIP fund accounting software, Excel, budgeting exercising initiative, judgment, discretion & decision-making to achieve organizational objectives; establishing & maintaining effective working relations, communication; organizational management; grant administration; & identifying & resolving problems. Able to determine financial objectives, assists in the development of the annual budget, develops financial reports, analyzes and reports variances, develops/monitors internal control mechanisms, develops computer and information management protocols, & oversees human resource administration.

Originally a Baltimore-city-community-based organization, Moveable Feast quickly spread in the early 1990’s to other surrounding jurisdictions to provide services to people with HIV/AIDS, starting in Baltimore County, and soon thereafter expanding services to Howard, Harford, Anne Arundel, and Carroll counties. In 1998, Governor Parris Glendening awarded Moveable Feast a State grant to provide meals to people with HIV/AIDS on Maryland’s Eastern Shore. Today, Moveable Feast serves 14 of the 24 counties in Maryland.
Moveable Feast is the only provider of medically tailored meals – free of charge- for people with serious illnesses. Our Board is adamant that... this service be made available to individuals who are most in need, especially in those jurisdictions where there are limited or no other home delivered meal services available. No one should have to make the choice between paying an electric bill, or buying medication, over eating healthy during their illness. Moveable Feast is here to make sure no one as to make that choice!
