The Henry Ford has a great opportunity for an Accounting Supervisor-Disbursements!
The person in this position will lead the day-to-day operations of payroll and accounts payable functions, delivering accurate and timely results employing established procedures, under the direction of the Controller. Responsible for reconciling, analyzing, and troubleshooting disbursement-related data, and ensures compliance with all relevant policies and regulations. Works with payroll-related pension and benefit information, performing reconciliations and reviews, and serves as primary payroll backup.
Ensures proper processing, documentation, and reviews of all payroll and accounts payable data.
Oversees bi-weekly payroll processing, and all related tax and data filings. Also serves as primary payroll backup, providing support as needed.
Supervises daily Accounts Payable activities, including invoice processing, employee T&E reimbursements, W-9 filings, and vendor maintenance. Recommends related process and systems improvements.
Reviews and approves corporate credit card transactions and prepares related journal entries.
Supervises and approves annual tax and regulatory filings for Accounts Payable and Payroll, including Forms 1099, W-2, and 8027.
Works closely with, and provides support to, the general accounting and cash receipts areas.
Reconciles and audits details from all disbursement systems.
Plays key role in recommending and implementing system and process changes, including automated workflow processes.
Responsible for payroll and accounts payable reporting, using proprietary and non-proprietary reporting tools to provide information and solve problems.
Acts as key problem-solver, identifying and correcting problems as well as recommending preventative solutions. Works with internal units and accounting leaders to ensure proper follow-up and problem resolution.

Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, or at least five years’ equivalent financial experience. Minimum two years’ supervisory experience preferred. Must be proficient with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Access, and Word), and working knowledge of both payroll and accounts payable is desired.
Must be a well-organized self-starter with strong communication and analytic skills, and must work well in a multi-team environment.
