The Senior Vice President of Finance will be a results-driven, collaborative leader who will serve as a business partner and financial thought leader to the local agency leadership team as well as local finance team. This position will direct and lead financial planning and analysis, client reporting, account practices and financial communications and other business supported activities for the operating unit of three brands: Golin, The Brooklyn Brothers and Virgo Health. This role will report to Don Cognetta, US EVP, CFO, and be based in our New York office.
Specifically, the Senior Vice President of Financewill:
Provide strategic direction, support and counsel to the office leadership and finance team regarding financial performance, planning and applicable operating issues for growing New York market.
Responsible for the leadership, development and growth of finance team.
Setting vision and expectations for departmental and individual performance
Act as the primary strategic finance and operational business partner and leader to management and staff. Initiate, review, discuss and execute initiatives, actions, and decisions along with training opportunities as applicable.
Evaluate the financial position of the operating unit by assessing all aspects of the health and profitability of the business on a real-time basis. Communicate findings to senior management.
Seek improvement measures and take action to ensure strong financial performance.
Direct and coordinate all budget and forecasting processes from a daily to annual basis.
Work across levels at the agency to ensure effective month and quarter-end close processes.
Partner with managing director and human resources to direct salary planning process. Create and maintain staff cost tracking and forecasting tools to monitor costs, trends and ensure levels and ratios are in line with budgets and acceptable targets.
Ensure strategies are in place as it relates to staffing capacity and utilization. Seek improvements to an ever-evolving process.
Act as primary/end authorizer of non-billable spending and maintain expense spending levels within budget guidelines and the needs of the business. Review and approve client-billable spending and ensure spends follow all control procedures and adhere to contractual obligations.
Work with shared services and parent company procurement resources to attain maximum value from vendor agreements and achieve organizational goals. Review, negotiate and approve vendor contracts as appropriate.
Liaison with Business Affairs/Legal to review, negotiate and coordinate client contracts. Maintain executed client contract files and review regularly. Identify and support revenue recognition methodology for each contract.
Review client profitability and provide reporting and analysis to management. Seek areas in which to increase client profitability and/or concentrate staffing and resources to maximize returns
Work closely with managing director and CFO on capital expenditure budgeting process in accordance with the needs of the business
Ensure client billing is done in an accurate and timely manner, through oversight of the overall process, which also includes meeting working capital objectives through collection of client receivables and keeping WIP balances current
In conjunction with managing director work with facilities management team providing direction, support and feedback on an ongoing basis.
The ideal Senior Vice President of Finance candidate will have the following:
20+ total years of financial experience, with at least 8 in a leadership role.
Experience managing multiple brands or agencies is a plus.
Proven people leader – experience managing and growing talent.
Current professional/client service industry experience is required. Public Relations, Advertising and/or Marketing agency experience is a plus
Champion of diverse talent, proactively cultivates an inclusive culture, and uses cultural competence to drive agency and client’s business forward
A Bachelor degree in accounting or finance.
Management Responsibilities: Manages employees by making decisions regarding staffing, performance management, training and development, recommends salary increases, promotions, transfers and termination as needed.
