This position serves as the Deputy Director for the MDOT Audit Division and has been approved for recruitment flex for an annual salary of $82,491.87. The incumbent in this position reports to the Audit Division Director and is responsibilities including, but are not limited to, conducting audits and/or reviews of overhead rates submitted for acceptance by consulting engineering firms as required by FHWA (Federal Highway Administration); conducting related CPA work-papers reviews in accordance with the AASHTO (American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials) Accounting and Auditing Guide; performing pre-award risk assessments according to federal funding requirements; assisting in the subrecipient monitoring processes, to ensure compliance with the OMB Uniform Grant Guidance; participating in the agency's Internal Control Program annually; and having the capacity to serve as the MDOT Auditor, in the absence of the Auditor. Additional duties include assisting in the management of the Audit Division employees and in the management of the division's work flow regarding audits and/or reviews of MDOT contractual project costs. The supervision of subordinate employees will include making recommendations on personnel actions.
The successful candidate must have at least a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Accounting or Business Administration. Must be a Certified Public Accountant or a Certified Internal Auditor with at least three (3) years of experience in accounting or auditing, six (6) years preferred.
