Reports to Assistant Controller FLSA status- Exempt
Sunset Development is looking for a Sr. Property Accountant/Analyst who will report directly to the Assistant Controller and drive the day-to-day activities and various responsibilities within the accounting department. S/he will play a key role in monthly closing activities and will participate in a variety of department functions, including but not limited to month-end accruals, variance analysis, reforecasting, budgeting, financial statement preparation, balance sheet reconciliations and intercompany transactions.
Actively participate in the monthly close process, including preparing journal entries and account reconciliations.
Analyze the monthly/quarterly/annual financial reporting results and prepare P&L and Balance sheet flux explanations.
Maintain and improve accounting process with a high attention to detail.
Review invoice coding for appropriate property and specific allocations.
Assist Accounting Manager with quarterly reforecasting and annual budget processes.
Prepare semi-annual and annual financial statement packages and external reporting.
Actively participate in annual external financial audits of joint ventures.
Oversee and coordinate with outsourced dining operations as primary accounting contact.
Review monthly rent rolls to understand leasing fluctuations at assigned properties.
Coordinate with business partners, both internal and external on various reporting requirements.
Refine processes and procedures to promote departmental efficiencies.
All other duties and projects as assigned.

Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance preferred.
Minimum 3-5 years of experience.
Experience with Yardi Voyager, a plus.
Excellent oral/written communication skills.
Excellent organizational and analytical/problem solving skills.
Ability to work independently successfully or in a team setting.
Strong sense of urgency with ability to react quickly to challenges.
High proficiency in Microsoft Excel desired
