The Finance Division provides financial management, enterprise planning and stewardship in support of education, research, and strategic goals of Carnegie Mellon. We are looking for an Accountant who will be a valued member of a small team in Financial Reporting , responsible for performing accounting activities related to the maintenance of a complete and accurate general ledger. You will be accountable for maintenance and accuracy of the general ledger and the analysis and preparation of accurate managerial reports and financial documents. Core responsibilities will include:
Assisting in various accounting functions to include reconciling accounts, posting journal entries, maintaining a complete and accurate general ledger in accordance with accounting principles and standards to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, laws, and reporting requirements.
Collecting, compiling, verifying, and analyzing financial information in quarterly and year-end financial reporting, and other appropriate schedules, so that senior management has accurate and timely information for making decisions.
Providing assistance in the annual fiscal year-end financial audit, researching and reconciling general ledger object codes, and assisting in preparation of financial documents.
Providing accounting advice and consultation within client areas, answering questions concerning financial and accounting systems policies and procedures, and referring unusual issues to a supervisor.
Performing related duties and special projects as assigned.

Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field required.
Minimum three years of experience in finance and accounting required; prior experience in a non-profit or university environment preferred.
Experience with ERP systems and reporting packages such as Oracle and Excel4Apps is desirable.
