Under the direct supervision of the Tax Director, responsible for the accurate preparation and timely filing of sales and use tax returns and Federal Census reports. Compile the data necessary to be included as part of Federal Firearms and Ammunition Excise Tax ("FET") return. Work with other departments to compile and assemble the data necessary to file the Company's annual Federal, state and local income tax returns. Prepare and execute on-line tax payments, journal entries, and account reconciliations generated by the Tax Department.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field preferred.
One to three years' experience with transaction type taxes.
Competencies and Skills:
Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
Ability to work independently.
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proficiency in PC spreadsheet applications (preferably Excel) and other Microsoft Office applications. Experience with tax preparation systems is preferred.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Accurately prepare and timely file state sales and use tax returns
Prepare and maintain check requests, journal entries and electronic tax payments and tax filings.
Maintain monthly and quarterly corporate income tax and sales tax calendars.
Preparation of records related to sales and use tax and income tax audits.
Assist with monthly FET refund and decreasing adjustments analysis and processing.
Analyze on a monthly basis tax related general ledger accounts.
Assist with physical inventories as part of the Financial Team.
Conduct special projects which may include tax research, nexus studies and analysis, and other tax related projects.
Complete all necessary training as required by assigned department and position
Participate in and follow all company initiatives
Participate in continuous improvement projects (Kaizen events, 5S, etc)

Work Environment and Personal Protective Equipment:
Within any of our facilities, employees may be exposed to manufacturing noise, airborne liquid chemicals, fine particulate dust, ambient temperatures, and industrial lighting. Work environment is similar to most manufacturing and distribution operations. May be exposed to excessive noise, temperatures, hazards associated with working around moving machinery, work in confined quarters, exposure to vibrations and shop lighting, continuous exposure to hot temperatures, may be humid, odors, dust, continuous exposure to mechanical hazards, and occasional exposure to chemical hazards.
The following Personal Protective Equipment is required:
Safety glasses with side shields and hearing protection required when on manufacturing floor
The use of additional personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required when a job task(s) is being completed in or around your assigned department or in another department, this includes safety eyewear, hearing protection, and safety footwear.
