The Senior Governmental Accountant/Auditor is a position that provides government accounting, auditing and advisory services to state and local government entities. We are seeking a candidate that is a CPA with a minimum of three to five years of experience in governmental accounting and auditing.
Work is typically performed under minimal supervision, receiving guidance from manager/supervisor. Specific duties include:
Establishing audit scopes and related audit programs.
Determining compliance testing of specified areas and identify reportable issues.
Verbally communicating findings to senior management and writing comprehensive and complete reports of audit areas.
Exercising independent judgment in applying accounting principles to unique and complex situations.
Establishing positive working relationships with clients and key stakeholders.
Researching and implementing new accounting and auditing standards.
Assisting with internal and external audits.
Maintaining working knowledge of compliance with governmental accounting and auditing standards.
Performing other related duties and participating in special projects as assigned.
Requires a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a similar major field of study with a minimum of three to five years of governmental accounting experience. Master degree a plus.
Strong communication, team building, leadership and organizational skills.
Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to establish professional and cooperative relationships with clients and staff.
Experience communicating with executive management
Excellent analytical ability and detail orientation.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications is expected.
Knowledge of AICPA/GAO standards.
CIA, CFE, and/or CISA certifications are a plus.
