This position promotes the mission, vision, values and strategic plan of Easterseals and helps to achieve the strategic goals and objectives of the unit. The Grant Accountant/Analyst, under the direct supervision of the Senior Grants and Contracts Manager and the indirect supervision of the Program Managers this role supports, is responsible for the accounting and financial management related to the grants and contracts that fund assigned cost centers. This includes maintaining relationships with funders and program managers, preparing and reconciling financial reports and analyses; preparing, amending and renewing grant budgets; assisting program management in managing funds in a manner that maximizes program benefit; and, preparing accounting calculations and journal entries and reconciling related revenues and receivables.
Prepare and reconcile required financial reports for all assigned grants by the required due dates.
Assist the Revenue Cycle Specialist with submitting expenditure vouchers to funders as needed, ensuring that all information required by the funder/customer is complete and accurate. Attaches all required documentation for payment.
Records all submitted vouchers and invoices in the accounts receivable subledger immediately following submission.
Analyze grant expenses monthly, preparing and posting reclassifications as needed.
Prepare and record accurate monthly revenue accruals by the agreed upon dates.
Reconcile all revenue and receivable accounts monthly for assigned cost centers.
Prepare and maintain copies of all budgets, reports, vouchers, reconciliations, etc. in an accessible and organized fashion.
Monitor and review open account receivable to identify adjustments, refunds, write offs. Maintain clean and accurate accounts receivable balances by processing adjustments and refunds and requesting approval for write offs timely.
Provide monthly reporting of budget to actual expenditures and remaining funds for all grants to program managers monthly; review key metrics with managers and ensure funds are managed on an ongoing basis.
Prepare and submit reports and performance metrics to the Senior Grants and Contracts Manager regularly.
Prepare budgets for new and existing programs and grant proposals as needed.
Conduct ongoing contract and fiscal compliance audits for assigned cost centers.
Develop and maintain tracking systems to monitor performance outcomes to ensure optimal performance and compliance with funding standards, regulations and guidelines.
Manage the financial aspects of program audits as needed. Assist program managers in maintaining compliance with grants/contracts.
Communicate with funders and program management to resolve issues in a timely and professional manner.
Represent Easterseals in a positive and professional manner to all stakeholders.
Take accountability for ongoing learning and development; maintaining current knowledge of funder processes and compliance requirements.
Comply with federal, state, and company policies, procedures, and regulations.
Participate in strategic planning for the Finance Department and other areas as assigned.

BA or BS in Accounting or Finance.
Three to five years grant management experience working in a nonprofit environment.
Three to five years accounting experience.
Extensive computer experience including advanced experience in Microsoft Excel, accounting software and internet.
Sage/MIP software experience a plus.
Strong understanding of funder contract requirements, policies and procedures and regulatory requirements related to funding.
Demonstrate expertise in this functional area, leveraging unique core of knowledge and skills to achieve results
Excellent computer skills including expert-level Excel skills and at least intermediate Word, PowerPoint and Outlook skills.
Adhere to established quality, performance improvement standards, and the ability to anticipate and bring about change when needed.
Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills. Coordination and communication with program managers, funders, auditors and other key stakeholders is required.
Organized, work well with others and uses time effectively to accomplish goals/resolve problems.
Strong skills and ability in budgeting, accounting and fiscal management.
Ability to analyze and interpret financial data and prepare financial reports, analyses, budgets and projections.
Ability to develop and manage action plans and projects and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
