As an Accounting Policy Director at Cummins, you will be responsible for working with the business and others in Finance to identify, describe, resolve, consult and document highly complex accounting issues and transactions.
You will consult with Finance employees globally as the subject matter expert, evaluating highly complex transactions against U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and best practice internal controls. We will also manager certain quarterly processes for a business segment.
Top Candidates will have the ability to:
Build strong relationships with global finance and business professionals.
Work with business segment finance teams to evaluate accounting for significant transactions, including revenue recognition, derivatives, business combinations, leases, financing transactions, asset impairments, guarantees, and other judgmental accounting areas.
Assess accounting requirements and objectives to evaluate implications on the business; communicate and collaborate with stakeholders of varying financial knowledge.
Work with Accounting Policy team members across the company to drive consistent application of accounting policies.
Advises Internal Controls employees within the business segment on matters related to internal controls or accounting processes.
Ensure proper resolution of identified control deficiencies or audit findings through interaction with internal auditors and business segment finance employees.
Coordinate with external auditors on specific matters related to business segment activity and related accounting implications.
Coach and develop people to meet both their career goals and the organization’s goals while providing direction and removing barriers to assist others in getting work done.
Candidates will have:
College, university, or equivalent degree in Accounting, Finance or related degree.
8+ years of relevant work experience
Formal Leadership experience.
CPA, CMA, Chartered Accountant or similar certification required.
