As a Senior Accountant at Cummins, you will interpret, record and report accounting transactions to maintain the department’s general ledger. You will prepare account reconciliations, balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other accounting schedules and reports. You will review general ledger activity and resolve any improper accounting.
You will respond to inquiries received from management, internal and external auditors, and others regarding financial results and special reporting requests. You will review existing internal controls on a regular basis and develop new internal controls and best practice accounting procedures to continue to innovate within Cummins.

Research transactions in accordance with accounting regulations to ensure transactions are recorded in compliance with accounting regulations and company policies.
Assess accounting requirements and objectives to evaluate implications on the business; communicate and collaborate with stakeholders of varying financial knowledge.
Evaluate applicable regulations for the financial area of focus (such as tax, banking, pension, etc.) to evaluate underlying transactions and ensure they are recorded in compliance with applicable regulations; explain key requirements and purpose of regulations and implications to the business to inform and educate relevant stakeholders.
Interpret financial data and prepare and present financial information by summarizing data; partner with stakeholders to drive financial performance that aligns to organizational goals.
Assess internal controls and develop plans to anticipate risk and support changing business needs.
Interpret data, trends, variances, opportunities and risks to provide insight to stakeholders to drive business improvement; communicate conclusions to stakeholders; ensure integrity of financial data.
Coach and develop people to meet both their career goals and the organization’s goals while providing direction and removing barriers to assist others in getting work done.
Candidates will have:
College, university, or equivalent degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required
4+ years of relevant work experience
Possess or progression toward CPA, CMA, Chartered Accountant or similar certification
