Homer Electric Association Inc. is seeking an experienced cost analyst to join the finance leadership team in our Homer, Alaska office. The successful candidate for this non-supervisory position will play an integral role as the liaison between finance and other departments, providing accounting support and direction for a variety of projects. The Project Accountant position is responsible for leading monthly construction work plan meetings for distribution, transmission and generation projects, plus tracking, monitoring and reporting costs; providing company-wide expertise for cost coding in compliance with RUS regulations, grant agreements, and lending requirements; preparing, monitoring and updating annual capital budgets; maintaining general ledger and producing monthly financials for subsidiary; and administering all facets of corporate insurance program.
The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or a related field (eight years of progressively responsible accounting experience may be substituted). Applicants must also possess at least five years general accounting experience including cost analysis. An understanding of utility accounting is highly desired. Insurance experience is helpful but not required.
