Job Summary of the Assistant Controller
As Assistant Controller, you should be a forward-thinking leader with proven abilities and achievements in relevant accounting leadership roles. In this director-level position, you will lead Corporate Accounting and financial reporting while reporting to our Vice President, Corporate Controller.
Responsibilities of the Assistant Controller
The specific duties of the Assistant Controller include but are not limited to:
Lead the operations of the accounting department and provide coaching, leadership and mentoring.
Lead process improvement and improve areas of efficiency across the team.
Ensure an environment of effective internal financial controls and contribute to its continual improvement.
Identify opportunities to improve utilization of financial accounting systems and automation opportunities.
Ensure compliance with current US GAAP accounting policies.
Research and drive the implementation of new accounting guidance.
Lead the effective and timely periodic close of the financial records and ensure compliance with company policies.
Manage the preparation and coordination of the interim and year-end audit and review requests from external auditors.
Participation in the preparation and review of SEC disclosures for the 10-Q and 10-K and any other SEC filings.
Assists with insurance coverages, real estate management or specialized financing as needed.
Work closely with FP&A team to prepare support for reporting to senior management.
Build relationships cross-functionally to foster collaboration both inside and outside of Finance and Accounting.
Serve as the subject matter expert for accounting questions and our ERP system
Adhoc reporting as needed.

Requirements of the Assistant Controller
At least 10 years of Accounting/Finance experience
Experience within a publicly traded company required
Prior Big 4 or large regional public accounting experience
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA required.
Expertise in accounting in accordance with US GAAP and SEC reporting.
Experience with supervising teams.
Ability to work independently and take ownership of assigned tasks and responsibilities.
Well-organized with ability to prioritize and execute.
Very good communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills.
Attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
Proficient with Microsoft Office software. Excel expertise a must.
Experience with Accounting Software, i.e. Great Plains a plus.
