What we're building
We now need a European Investment Accountant to support the transformation and the future growth of the business within the finance function, so it can be a trusted and commercial partner that influences the business to make good financial decisions, by delivering excellent support, expertise and high quality management information.
The Investment Finance team is responsible for all investment accounting and reporting for European subsidiaries. This includes the production of monthly, quarterly and annual investment results for GWL and local finance teams that support statutory & regulatory returns.
What you'll do
To report on the daily, monthly, quarterly and annual operational processes, in relation to all controls, balance sheet reconciliations and month end processing required for all investment financials, in a timely and accurate manner. This will cover all European funds and will form part of the Investment Financial Control Manager's quarterly certification
To assist the Investment Financial Control Manager in the review and monitoring of all valuation and unit pricing movements processed by the UK & European pricing teams, to ensure that correct and complete information is reflected in the reported financials
To assist the Investment Financial Control Manager in the review and monitoring of all tax and property accounting movements in relation to all European funds processed by the IFC team
To assist the Investment Financial Control Manager in the production of all auditable working papers for all European investment financials, including a detailed analytical review (P&L and Balance Sheet) for review by the Investment Financial Control Manager each reporting period
Communicate complex/technical investment accounting concepts to team members ( new systems, new regulations) clearly to ensure all requirements are met and implemented effectively
Continually keep abreast of changes to finance/investment regulations & implement new procedures when necessary ensuring the Company's legal & statutory requirements are met
Assist in the continuous development and improvement of the Department's processes and procedures to ensure the provision of timely and accurate financial information for all European clients
Who you are
Qualified Accountant (or equivalent)
Investment accounting experience
Willing to study for professional accounting exams or IAQ
Ability to deal with complex tasks, unsupervised.
Able to train new members of staff and work effectively in a team
Good skills in relevant software applications, including excel, word, ICON, Viewfinder
Ability to work on own initiative and to agreed targets
Ability to work effectively in a team.
Enthusiastic and confident approach to new challenges.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
