Enterprise Finance drives financial management for the company and maintains and enhances risk and financial controls. Key functions within Enterprise Finance include finance and accounting; Treasury; corporate development, mergers, and acquisitions; Data Management and Insights, the Customer Remediation Center of Excellence, Enterprise Shared Services, Business Process Management, and Corporate Strategy. Enterprise Finance informs shareholders, regulators, taxing authorities, team members, and leaders of the company's financial performance through earnings releases, investor meetings and conferences, and meetings with regulators and credit rating agencies, following appropriate reporting guidelines. They also maintain and enhance risk and financial controls and lead many of the company's shared services functions including corporate properties, security, and global services.
Wells Fargo Corporate Tax is seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual who possesses strong written communication and interpersonal skills to join our State and Local Tax Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the audit process from the initial request to audit completion while following established business practice guidelines. They will assist with tracking and modeling the impact of organization and state legislative changes. They will research, develop, and implement state tax planning ideas, develop knowledge of specific state assignments to become the internal and external point person for assigned states, and provide assistance to Tax Compliance and Tax Accounting teams as needed. This includes assistance in determining the impact of business decisions on ASC 740-10 and ASC 450-20 reserves as required.
Additional audit management activities include:
Effectively interact with auditors, providing requested information and answering related questions.
Submit timely, accurate, and well-written responses to information document requests, audit and nexus questionnaires, and other notices of adjustments received from state taxing agencies. Ensure that audit reports are factually and computationally accurate and are supported by relevant state tax laws and regulations.
Research audit issues in support of the development of technical arguments and audit strategies, including opportunities to advance positions which could result in offsetting refund claims to achieve tax neutral or favorable results.
Draft protest letters and attend audit hearings when necessary.

8+ years of tax and accounting experience

8+ years corporate income tax experience
B.S. or B.A. degree in Accounting or Finance
Demonstrated ability to work independently and within a team environment

Financial services industry experience in state tax compliance and/or audit, including direct contact with tax auditors and audit resolution experience
