The University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) is now hiring a Sponsored Programs Grants Administrator III for the Office of Sponsored Programs Administration (SPA) in the Office of Research and Development (ORD). The Sponsored Programs Grants Administrator coordinates and manages unit-wide externally grant funded administrative research functions that include implementation of management and operational strategies. The position serves as liaison with University's department staff and faculty to meet research administration goals and objectives while complying with University, grant federal, state, and sponsor rules and regulations. The Sponsored Programs Grants Administrator works independently and knows and applies fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures.
The Office of Sponsored Programs Grant Administration provides oversight and administrative support to investigators and departmental administrators throughout the life of grant funded sponsored projects to include submitting competitive proposals, negotiating agreements, and navigating the world of sponsored programs grant administration.

Assist in oversight, triage, and assignment of day-to-day workflow of team.
Provide advanced knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations, University policies and practices, research compliance restrictions and guidelines, financial and academic requirements, and agency policies and procedures, as they related to sponsored projects.
Independently communicate with department staff and faculty both at UMB and abroad to facilitate all proposals.
Independently review all awards for compliance and consistency and address necessary changes with the UMB Principal Investigators and Department Administrators and triage with Sponsored Project Accounting & Compliance (SPAC).
Provide advanced technical guidance on all proposals that could include complex sponsor guidelines, request for applications and proposals and proposal data and attachments, along with understanding of any associated Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) included in sponsor solicitation.
Review, facilitate, and submit closeout documents for all awards.
Use advanced analytical skills to troubleshoot and problem-solve as needed to find answers and solutions to common issues on all proposals and awards.
Conduct basic mentoring and training for SPA Grant Administrator I with primary responsibility for final review before submission of proposals and using signature authority for awards.
Assist all SPA personnel in execution of faculty transfers, sponsor payments, and complete temporary projects.
Assist in training various campus units through development and presentation of research related training materials in groups and one on one interactions. Provide guidance to ORD staff as needed.
Provide advanced technical guidance on non-financial post-award actions and interpret and facilitate submission of non-financial post-award requests. Apply advanced knowledge of sponsor policies on cost principles.
Identify and suggest improvements and solutions of team's workflow and processes.
Collaborate with SPAC in providing departments and PI non-financial post award management, compliance, and reporting.
