In this challenging role, you will be supporting the FN-Finance department at Greenville Technical College. Duties may include any or all of the following.
-Audit Financial Aid operations and files for accuracy and compliance with applicable law.
-Conduct reviews of academic, administrative, and financial management policies to ensure efficiency and effectiveness; compliance with applicable laws and regulations; adequacy of accounting records and internal control systems. Audits departments and transactions for adherence with policies, laws, rules, and regulations.
-Maintains and reviews internal control and follow-up procedures to ensure field responsibility.
-Verifies inventories, cash receipt, and disbursement records and reconciles agency accounts.
-Reviews and makes recommendations to improve agency policies and procedures and provides interpretations of guidelines and regulations to ensure the college policies are in accordance with State law and regulations.
-Reviews staffing patterns, organizational alignments, equipment usage, inventory controls, purchasing practices, accounting techniques, space utilization, and benefits/cost or other evaluative measures.
-Conducts compliance reviews and audits, works with other staff members to identify, analyze, and resolve compliance issues.
-Performs operational audits to assess the efficiency of agency procedures, practices and controls and program audits to assess the effectiveness of agency services.
-Performs other duties as requested.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree in accounting or a course of study which included 15 semester hours in accounting related courses plus three (3) years professional experience in accounting, auditing, finance, insurance or tax preparation/analysis. Qualifying experience must include two (2) years as a professional auditor. CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or CIA (Certified Internal Auditor) may substitute for two (2) years of specified qualifying experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA)
