Purpose: The Controller of the Global Leadership Network (GLN) will be a key leader in our mission driven 501(c)3 organization as we use our collective gifts and talents to impact over 350,000 leaders around the world each year. The Controller will specifically be responsible for all finance, accounting and reporting activities for GLN, reporting to our COO, and the Controller will interface directly with the GLN Board of Directors Finance and Audit committee, our CEO, and the CEO’s direct reports. The right candidate will be looking to grow their career and responsibilities during their GLN career.
This position will be responsible for accurate, effective and efficient functioning of GLN’s financial and administrative operations including finance and accounting, budget development, financial planning and reporting, internal controls, contract management, audit, tax, outsourced accounting, and liability coverage. We are a small team which means the right leader will be equally adept at high level strategy and hands-on details, and the leader will be comfortable juggling many priorities.
Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements and supervise work performed by GLN’s outsourced accounting staff.
Maintain internal control and safeguards for receipt of revenue, program budgets and actual expenditures and establish finance and administrative systems to support operations.
Responsible for oversight of all audit activity.
Responsible for the banking relationship, ensuring strong controls over cash and accurate daily cash application, and manage our organization cash flow.
Consistently analyze financial data and present financial reports to business leaders in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements; monitor progress and changes and keep senior leaders abreast of GLN’s financial status.
Lead the annual budgeting and planning process; review all financial plans and compare to actual results to identify, explain, and correct variances as appropriate.
Engage with the board’s audit and finance committees regarding issues and trends in financial operating models and delivery.
Oversee all financial, project/program and fund accounting; ensure that expenditures are consistently aligned with budgets; collate financial reporting materials for grants.
Manage and track the performance of invested assets in keeping with policies and investment guidelines.
Education, Experience, Skills & Knowledge:
Bachelor’s degree and CPA required.
5-7 years of experience in a service industry or non-profit environment, and looking to continue to develop and advance their career at GLN.
Solid experience coordinating audit activities and managing reporting, budget development and analysis, accounts payable and receivable, general ledger, payroll, and accounting for investments.
Keen analytic, organization and problem-solving skills which allows for strategic data interpretation versus simple reporting.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills; experience in effectively communicating key data, including presentations to senior management, board or other outside partners.
Ability and desire to translate complex financial concepts to individuals at all levels including finance and non-finance managers.
Experience with SAGE Intacct and Bill.com is a plus.
A vital relationship with Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
An active participant of a local church that holds to a historic, orthodox understanding of biblical Christianity.
