The Holdsworth Center is a non-profit organization founded and largely funded by Charles Butt, Chairman of H-E-B, a regional retail company. Our mission is to impact, over time, the quality of K-12 public education for all Texas students by supporting and developing leaders. Based in Austin, Texas, our campus and programs are being developed in honor of Charles’ mother, Mary Elizabeth Holdsworth Butt, who was an educator, a philanthropist and a lifelong champion for social justice.
We partner with public school districts over five years to help them grow outstanding leaders at all levels so that staff thrive, and students excel in every classroom. We are seeking an Accountant who shares a deep commitment to our mission and whose experience and vision will deepen our capacity and enhance our impact as we strive to serve public school districts across the state of Texas.
About the Position
The Accountant, reporting to the Director of Finance, will process the organization’s daily financial transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, period end journal entries, and assist with budgeting, analysis, production of financial statements and reports. The accountant also helps maintain and monitor internal controls and works closely with staff and vendors.
In alignment with strengths and skills, the Accountant will:
Process day-to-day financial maintenance responsibilities
Process routine and period end closing journal entries to the General Ledger
Maintain depreciation, fixed asset, and insurance schedules
Work with vendors, “troubleshoot” as necessary and resolve issues with autonomy
Assist with budgeting and financial analysis
Performs monthly and year-end close
Supports special request and projects as directed by the leadership
Knowledge of GAAP and all other regulatory rules, regulations and requirements
Desirable candidates will have a range of prior experience and capabilities to include:
Undergraduate degree in accounting, finance or business administration
3-5 years of experience required
Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills
Familiarity with Microsoft NAV financial reporting software
Familiarity with financial charts, graphs, and data analytics software a plus
Experience in a non-profit organization is a plus, but not required
