Smart Furniture is looking for a hard working, detail oriented individual to join our team as our Controller. We’re looking for someone who works hard but isn’t afraid to have fun doing it, someone who wants to grow with the company and take on additional responsibilities, as Smart Furniture grows. We’re poised to be a leader in the rapidly growing Work from Home furniture category, and we want someone who’s ready to join us on that journey.
The Controller will be critical in Smart Furniture’s future success. This position will oversee all of Smart Furniture’s accounting and purchasing initiatives and be responsible for ensuring the correct systems and controls are in place as well as driving growth through strategic investments in the business. This position reports directly to the CEO.
Manage the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring thorough review and reconciliation processes while meeting all reporting deadlines
Development and execution of accounting practices in accordance with GAAP, industry, and corporate policies and procedures to ensure effective internal controls
Oversee and drive business growth through a stocking and demand planning program
Develop and drive the annual budgeting process
Improve financial performance through careful cost control, margin improvements, and strategic business investments
Continuously evaluate system flows, emphasizing continuous improvement in business processes and building controls into processes, including management of security access to financial portals and tools
Coordinate outside professional support services (tax, compliance, etc.) and monitor deadlines.
MBA or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field
5+ years of relevant experience.
Strong GAAP and financial reporting technical skills
Strong background in demand planning and forecasting
Excellent math skills with attention to detail
Strong analytical skills to interpret and adapt known methods, system procedures or operating concepts to new situations
Ability to work independently, handle multiple tasks to meet deadlines, and have very good knowledge of multiple functions or areas of the business
Extensive knowledge of and experience with MS Office, Excel and Word
Netsuite or similar enterprise level ERP experience
Strong work ethic, team oriented, and goal focused
Excellent communication skills

Be able to establish a positive and productive working environment
