Lead the operational and technical accounting for all new accounting pronouncements and new projects or initiatives. Establish accounting process and internal control framework over newly implemented accounting rules.
Support the operational enhancements of the Company’s lease administration and accounting platform (launched in fiscal 2018). Work with the implementation team to leverage system functionality to comply with ASU 2016-02.
Help lead the interface between Oracle Cloud ERP and the lease administration and accounting platform as well as the Company’s e-commerce order management platform.
Support the internal control framework over the accounting for those leases under ASU 2016-02.
Evaluate Company’s legal contracts, including leases, for key terms or unique/complex accounting considerations, and recommend accounting treatment. Review leases for key terms and assesses various lease clauses for appropriate accounting treatment.
Liaise with external auditors on all technical accounting topics and document results of technical assessments in support of management’s analysis.
Work with Corporate Finance to understand the budget and forecast impact of newly issued accounting rules.
Support continual evaluation of global accounting policy.
Support the SEC Reporting team in the preparation of all complex financial statement disclosures required in Form 10-Q and 10-K filings in accordance with GAAP and SEC Rules and Regulations.
Review journal entries and monthly reconciliations of e-commerce sales and COGS and sales return reserves.
Streamline existing processes to improve efficiency and implement and test controls around order management platform and ERP as it relates to the complete and accurate recognition of e-commerce revenue.
Analyze and reconcile customer liability balances and other related revenue accounts.
Review forecasts and budgets for components of our e-commerce revenues.
Ensure compliance with policies and procedures and update documentation as necessary.
Support Assistant Controller to complete special projects as assigned.
Operate a computer and communicate via telephone
Transport materials and equipment and lift, move and carry objects up to 50 pounds on a limited basis
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
Minimum 4-5 years in public accounting or a combination of public accounting and industry experience. Public accounting experience is required - retail client experience a plus
Strong technical accounting background with proven ability to research, conclude on and document complex accounting topics
A strong understanding of ASU 2014-09 accounting and disclosures is required
Strong systems aptitude (Lawson Financial, Hyperion Essbase, or Oracle a plus)
Proficient in Microsoft Excel
Ability to communicate both verbally and through written mediums in a clear and concise manner
Proven ability to effectively interact with multiple teams and various levels of management
Self-starter, eager, problem solver, creative thinker, adaptable, strong analytical skills
Requires a very organized and detailed oriented individual with the ability to juggle multiple tasks
Excellent customer service skills and willingness to partner with other team members
Ability to perform work onsite in the San Francisco office full-time pending state, local, and Company return-to-work guidance during and after the COVID-19 pandemic.
