The Accountant I works under general supervision to perform and coordinate accounting department functions and work flows including accounts receivable, accounts payable, event registrations, bank and GL account and investments reporting for Iowa Bankers Mortgage Corp, Iowa Mortgage Association, Iowa Trust Association, I-LEAD, BUILD and Iowa Midwest Insurance Company by performing the following duties:
Perform analysis and reconciliations of the mortgage cash, receivable, and payables accounts, on both monthly and daily reports, including working with departments across the organization to resolve complex issues and discrepancies
Processes disbursements including receiving invoices, coding and preparing checks and EFT payment information for all payables and recording to the general ledger
Prepares sales and use tax and 1099 forms and filings
Enhance policies and procedures in the accounting of the mortgage operation and provide additional backup coverage
Required Education: 4 year college degree in accounting/business admin or 2-year Associate’s degree with relevant work experience.
Required Work Experience: At least 3 years of accounting work experience
Technology Skills: Excel, Word, Dynamics Great Plains, ACH file creation software, On-Base imaging system.
