The senior accountant will perform accounting and financial duties to support the Finance Office. This position requires independent judgment, discretion, and extensive use of accounting knowledge to accomplish goals.Â The Senior Accountant will help to ensure compliance and adherence to policies and government regulations and will assist with preparation of various audit support schedules, tax schedules and financial statements.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Maintaining the integrity of the Collegeâs financial data
Contributing to annual financial statement preparation and audit
Contributing to annual 990 preparation
Prepares, reviews, and ensures accuracy of account reconciliations through monthly analysis and reconciliation of assigned balance sheet accounts, including bank reconciliation, fixed asset reconciliation, and others as assigned
Fixed asset data entry
Prepare and post journal entries.
Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Â
Â·Knowledge of:Â technical knowledge financial accounting and reporting in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles Â
Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem solving skills with the ability to work independently
Experience preparing financial schedules, analyzing information, and interpreting data
Advanced software skills, particularly Microsoft Excel and preferably Workday Financials
Extreme organization skills and detail orientation
Solid written and verbal communication skills; must have the interpersonal finesse to interact effectively within the team and internal customers
Work in a team environment, both as a participant and project leader; establishing and maintaining strong professional relationships.
Proven ability and knowledge of financial systems
Maintain the security and confidentiality of any proprietary or sensitive data in any medium regarding the College or its students, faculty, or staff

Education:Â Â Bachelorâs degree in accounting
Experience: Â Minimum of 3 years of higher education experience or 2 years of public accounting experience
Experience in Higher Education or previous public accounting experience
Experience with Workday Financials
CPA or CPA candidate
