The Davis Academy, a private reform Jewish day school located in Atlanta, is seeking an Accounting Manager. The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree (advanced degree preferred). Five years of accounting experience, with significant experience in a school or other non-profit.
Each month prepares monthly, quarterly and yearly financial statements showing budget variances in income and expense line items as well as monthly Statement of Financial Position, which are comparative statements to prior year results.
Manages all of the modules, General Ledger Cash Receipts, Cash Disbursements, Fixed Assets.
Manages the monthly close cycle (includes daily, weekly and monthly processes).
Responsible for managing and /or preparing monthly close process journal entries, account reconciliation for General Ledger and sub ledgers.
Manages the Senior Accountant and the Staff Accountant (which includes a review of tuition assistance and enrollment contracts and ensures are all worksheets are balanced into the GL module, including Smart Tuition correctly).
Lead contact with outside Audit team and arranges and coordinates annual audits of school's financial records and prepares schedules for annual audit and answers questions from auditors as needed. Coordinates and organizes all documents in Suralink portal.
Reconciles bank and investment accounts and prepares other required reconciliations of accounts.
Manages Accounting personnel, including professional development, goals and objectives, performance reviews, etc.
Responsible for the preparation of the annual 990 and 1099 forms.
Prepares Executive Summaries of financial statement for Finance Committee and Board of Trustees.
Assists the CFO in preparation of budgets, reviews budget proposals, and prepares necessary supporting documentation and justification. Assists the CFO in preparation of monthly forecasting comparison to budget.
Assists CFO in developing procedures to assure effective internal controls for all accounting/financial functions in the Business Office.
Assist CFO in special projects involving accumulation of financial data.
Reconciles Development Department records to related cash receipts and prepares monthly journal entries to post Annual Fund and Capital Campaign pledges and contribution. Coordinates with Development Director to assure proper recording of Annual Fund and Capital Campaign transactions.
Assists in review and selection of business office software packages and integrates with related Departments.
Responsible for financial reporting including monthly closing and working with software vendor to assure system functions effectively.
Establishes and documents The Davis Academy’s Accounting Policies and Procedures.
Responsible for preparing surveys for MISBO, GISA, NAIS without supervision.
Responsible for preparing reports for grants, Jewish Federation, etc.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervision of the Senior Accountant and Staff Accountant and coordinates the accounting activities with the CFO, Human Resource Manager, Development Office and the Registrar’s Office.
