Job Summary: The Accountant II will oversee all aspects of the SAR Center's financial management and human resource matters. This role reports to the SARC Director and the Assistant Vice President in the Division of Student Affairs (AVP) to ensure an in-depth understanding of all sources and uses of funds. This role will work closely with the SAR Center staff members, and student employees when necessary, to inform and coach on financial understanding and human resource policies. This role is key to maintaining overall due diligence and compliance of UTA policies. Essential Duties: Manage SAR Center Financial Information: Obtain financial information from UTA accounting system (UTShare) to manage department funds by cost center at the budget and transaction-level detail across financial periods and fiscal years. Query and ensure funds available for all cost centers. Enter and track Budget transfers. Enter IDT Journal Entries and track from other departments to correct any accounting errors. Ensure sources and uses of funds are correctly captured by General Ledger code to enable meaningful historical financial analysis. Work closely with Dean of Students, Division of Student Affairs department directors and staff to meet their financial information needs by generating timely ad hoc and periodic management reports. Collaborate with SAR Center Director and DSA AVP with Division of Student Affairs annual PBCS budget process and multiyear planning. Run MARS, UTShare and SAS user-friendly queries for data gathering and analysis. Master MARS reports to export for analysis and reporting. Master UTShare existing queries to understand and track financial and human resource information. Find and add valuable UTShare queries to list of Favorites. Pursue and share new paths to financial data in other applications with cohorts within Division of Student Affairs. Department Monthly Financial Statements. Reconcile monthly financial statements for Funded, Unfunded Cost Centers (CCs) and Projects (Grants) in SAHARA. Maintain all source documents in easily accessible location for access by SAR Center Director and Accounting Services. Ensure SAR Center Director is apprised of timeliness of reconciliation to ensure Director reviews and approves all CCs and project IDs by the monthly deadline communicate by Accounting Services. Oversee monthly reconciliation of ProCard logs by card holder. (Logs reconciled by card holder). Supplier Management and Purchasing Review. Track Purchase Orders by vendor including encumbrances and remaining available funds by fiscal year. Resolve Accounts Payable issues. Pursue and analyze accommodation data to recommend vendor changes and pricing improvement options based on trend analysis. Track fiscal year-end deadlines and available funds utilization limitations. Position & Workforce Management – Human Resources. Maintain Salary Roster Tracking Report that encompasses all position ID changes within SAR Center. Time & Absence Reporting, eForms, Job Data. Submit position eForms to ensure proper employee funding by SAR Center cost center. Scholarship Disbursement processing. Identify and resolve salary, leave balance, student wages and other payroll-related issues. Assist with development of new positions descriptions, job postings, and track Hiring Review Committee's review timing and approvals. Performs other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Business Administration, Accounting. Finance or the equivalent experience. Two (2) years of previous experience working with financial information including annual planning, monthly reporting, account reconciliation and variance analysis. Intermediate skills in MS Office 365 with a focus on Excel. Aptitude to learn and master new software as needed for the role. Preferred Qualifications: Five (5) years of previous experience working with financial information including annual planning, monthly reporting, account reconciliation and variance analysis. Knowledge and experience in higher education. Knowledge and experience in preparing ad hoc and periodic management financial reports. Experience working with multiple sources and types of funds with different regulations and project periods. Intermediate UTShare, MS Office 365, and advanced skills in Excel including Filters, Advanced Sorting, Pivot Tables, Vlookup Formulas. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: A high level of integrity to manage confidential information. Consistent attention to detail. Generate ideas in collaboration with SAR Center staff members and across departments within the Division of Student Affairs to contribute to the success of the Division's Strategic Plan. Ability to take initiative and to balance multiple and changing priorities. Time management skill needed to meet reoccurring monthly deadlines. Excellent oral and written communication skills, organizational skills, and interpersonal skills are necessary. Collaborate with fellow Accountants to innovate detailed analysis and management reporting. Serve as a valuable and engaged team member within the Division of Student Affairs.
