Requires a general understanding of the RUS Uniform System of Accounts principles and procedures as they relate to a rural electric utility and telecommunications subsidiary. Minimal supervision in performing tasks, progressing towards a lead role on the KAMO Accounting and Finance team. Prepare various journal entries, maintain reconciliations, prepare various RUS schedules and forms and perform other related accounting duties.
Lead role in Accounting and Finance Department which may include revenue and expense cycles, fixed assets, work orders, payroll and financial management.
Assists with risk management functions.
Prepare schedules for annual and/or monthly tax and RUS reports.
Assist with audit functions including contractual, financial and compliance.
Assist with continuous improvement accounting and finance related processes.
Prepare analyses and assist during internal and external audits.
Knowledge of accounting procedures and terminology including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, software applications and the ability to operate a personal computer. Knowledge of the RUS Uniform System of Accounts. Accounting principles and procedures as they relate to a rural electric utility or a telecommunications subsidiary.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook). Experience with Dynamics SL and/or Real Asset Management Software a plus. Adept in both verbal and written communication.
Need to be organized, detailed orientated and a self-starter. Ability to plan, organize and prioritize time/workload to accomplish tasks and meet deadlines. Ability to adapt to changing business circumstances and handle multiple tasks. Ability to work in team environment.
Experience & Education
A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting is preferred. Direct related experience with an electric utility or an accounting firm may potentially be substituted at a rate of two (2) years of experience for one year of education. Previous accounting or finance experience required.
