The Role:
Working with M&G plc as an Accountant means becoming part of a brand with a global reputation and an exciting vision: to be the leader in helping customers achieve their long-term financial goals.
As An accountant within the team you will have a wide variety of tasks including managing accounting processes and controls, consolidation tasks and regulatory reporting. You will have the opportunity to work independently as well as within in teams to support the delivery of quarterly reporting targets.
Key Work Level Accountabilities: Experienced Colleague:
Accountable for providing a quality service or product to customers and stakeholders, using skills/experience built through significant practical experience or training
For team leaders, accountable for ensuring the team the role supports is delivering a quality service or product
Works within established frameworks and procedures, with the freedom to interpret them to solve a range of problems
Delivers outputs that are clearly defined, using discretion over how to achieve them
Makes suggestions for improvements to the work of the team, based on previous experience and knowledge of similar situations
Key Responsibilities for this role:
Producing and being accountable for the technical accuracy of financial information to support production of IFRS results and the statutory accounts, Solvency II results and QRTs or MI systems
Carrying out accounting processes and controls to ensure the accurate production of information and document work performed to ensure appropriate audit trials are maintained.
Providing guidance and ensuring appropriate accounting practices are adopted in the production of financial information
Providing technical expertise to design technical solutions as part of change projects within Finance where required
The role will sit in one of the Finance sub-functions and will contribute to the achievement of one or more of these outcomes in order to deliver the vision for Finance.
Key Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
ACCA, ACA & CIMA qualified
Previous experience with statutory accounts desirable but not essential
Ability to work to deadlines and prioritise workload
High level of numeracy and literacy
Fully proficient with MS Excel & Word
Good team player
Ability to work on own initiative
Previous experience within Financial Services
A desire to learn
Flexible and adaptable
