Fontbonne University is seeking candidates for the position of Senior Accountant to work closely with the Vice President of Finance and Administration/CFO with oversight of financial reporting and business functions. This is a full-time, benefits eligible position including tuition remission.


Responsibilities


Model the University's Mission through dedicated job performance, service excellence to constituencies and respectful collaboration.


  • Manage all university accounting and financial processes to include timely account reconciliation, and monthly close processes

  • Assist grant and endowment accounting and review.

  • Oversee the daily operations of accounts payable and accounting areas. Functions within these areas include accounts payable check processing, fixed assets, Title IV financial aid draws and reconciliations, overall general ledger management and compliance reporting.

  • Maintain confidential records and documentation included but not limited to the functional areas of accounting, accounts payable, and payroll.

  • Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements and footnotes.

  • Provide leadership and collaboration of creating efficiencies in business processes.

  • Coordinate and serve as liaison for the annual financial statement and A-133 audit of the university. Oversee preparation and submission of various tax and other compliance documents, returns and filings.

  • Collaborate with various departments in preparation of annual reporting requirements including but not limited to FISAP reporting, regulatory reporting, benchmarking reporting, and other reporting request.

  • Supervise, train, and mentor staff in a team environment.

  • Other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree

  • 5 years of accounting and/or audit experience with increasing responsibility in a complex organization.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, understand and interpret details, meet established deadlines, and provide excellent customer service to the university community.

  • Hands on experience or experience managing multiple functions of a business in areas such as, accounts payable, general accounting, internal controls, endowments, grant reporting, financial reporting, fixed assets, payroll, cash management and budgeting.

  • Highly organized, strong analytical skills, detail-oriented and self-motivated.

  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Excel required.


Preferred Qualifications


  • Master's degree

  • Certified Professional Accountant (CPA) licensure

  • Experience with Microsoft GP Dynamics ERP

  • Experience in higher education preferred
