The Senior Accountant is responsible for a variety of accounting and financial reporting activities within the Finance Office. The Senior Accountant serves as the primary responsible person for all related fixed asset and debt accounting in addition to performing several other general ledger accounting activities such as the monthly reconciliation of Account Payable bank account statements, abandoned property administrations and other projects as needed. Reporting to the Controller, the Senior Accountant also interacts closely with the Assistant Controller, Associate Vice President for Finance and the University Budget Manager and must work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.This position provides an individual with knowledge of how a university operates financially and creates professional development opportunities within the higher education industry.Required Qualifications:- Bachelor?s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.- At least three years of progressive experience with fixed asset & general ledger accounting experience.- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills with five or more years of experience in the proficient use of spreadsheets, query tools and financial databases.- Excellent written and oral communication skills with demonstrated ability to communicate professionally and effectively with multiple constituents within the university.- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects within or in advance of stated deadlines.- Attention to detail, accuracy, and a high degree of motivation is crucial for this role.Preferred Qualifications:- CPA or master?s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.- Experience with a fixed asset accounting.- Advanced proficiency with Ellucian Banner or similar ERP system.- Knowledge and ability to effectively interpret and apply FASB, GAAP, Federal and State regulations and other applicable accounting standards.- Progressive experience in general accounting in a not-for-profit educational institution.- A motivated problem-solver who will take initiative to identify opportunities for and implementation of business process improvement efforts; this would include the experience or ability to automate processes and create efficiencies.To apply, please copy and paste the following link: https://jobs.wit.edu/postings/5104
