Under the general direction of the University Budget Manager, the Financial Analyst will provide financial and operational support to the Finance and Business Divisions. This position will have an active role in monthly reporting, analysis, and forecasting for the University. In addition, this position will serve as the primary backup to the Accounts Payable Representative and assist the Senior Accountant with the University’s fixed asset recording and tracking and with various general ledger account reconciliations. This position provides an individual with knowledge of how a university operates financially and creates professional development opportunities within the higher education industry.
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, finance or related field. • At least three years of professional experience in progressively more responsible positions providing customer service and office administration support in a complex organization. • Analytical and problem-solving skills with proficiency in the use of excel spreadsheets. • Excellent written and oral communication skills with demonstrated ability to communicate professionally and effectively with multiple constituents within the university. • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects within or in advance of stated deadlines. • Attention to detail, accuracy, and a high degree of motivation is crucial for this role. • Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in business administration, accounting, finance or related field. • Five years or more of professional experience in progressively more responsible positions providing customer service and office administration support in a complex organization. • A motivated problem-solver who will take initiative to identify opportunities for and implementation of business process improvement efforts; this would include the experience or ability to automate processes and create efficiencies. • Experience in college or university financial planning and/or administration.
