JOB SUMMARY: 

Under the general direction of the Controller, within the Business Office, the Payroll Specialist and General Accountant processes bi-weekly and monthly payrolls for all SSSAS Employees. Additionally, this position works with time and attendance, tracks employee leave balances, and is responsible for monthly bank reconciliations for the school and foundation. The position also provides support to the CFO and Human Resources Director.

 QUALIFICATIONS/ COMPETENCIES:

• Bachelor's Degree required.
• A minimum of three (3) years of successful experience or training in a support role in an office or school system setting. Payroll and Human Resources experience preferred.
• Demonstrated proficiency in the use of personal computers and software related to job responsibilities. Experience with computers, spreadsheets, and Google platform a plus.
• Pleasant and professional with good interpersonal communication skills and the ability to deal effectively with the public.
• Self-starter with strong attention to detail and good organizational skills.
• A willingness and capability to work beyond the normal workday.
• Ability to multitask and meet deadlines.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Maintains a wide variety of payroll records, files, and reports.
• Assumes a high degree of responsibility and self-motivation.
• Maintains strict confidentiality. 
• Understands labor laws as it applies to regular time and overtime.
• Has a general understanding of federal and state labor laws and internal controls.
• Assists with setting up new employee accounts in payroll systems. 
• Has strong customer service skills. 
• Has knowledge of business office procedures and is able to perform these procedures without supervision. 
• Reacts to change productively and performs other duties as assigned.
