The Staff Accountant performs designated tasks in the area of Customer Accounting with a focus on the preparation of Agent and Broker Compensation/Commission.

Your Responsibilities in this position:
Agent and Broker Compensation/Commission:
You will perform monthly review, paying particular attention to detail, of the agent/broker compensation and present to department heads
You will submit the agent/broker compensation for payment and review the monthly statements for accuracy prior to mailing
You will answer and resolve queries and issues from Agents/Brokers in a timely manner.
You will provide support to agents in response to inquiries regarding commission payouts, deductions & commission calculations
You will perform new agent/broker compensation plan set-up
You will resolve queries and issues from customers in a timely manner
You will prepare policyholder account reconciliations as needed
You will process policyholder rebates, manual premium invoices and manual refunds
Perform payment re-applications
You will prepare documentation as requested by auditors and regulators
You will participate in regression testing as needed for the launch of new products, processes and compensation structures
You will identify opportunities for increased efficiency with processes
Experience/skills you should have:
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced, high volume setting
strong organizational, time management, and coordination skills
Impeccable attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to work through stressful situations effectively
High level of initiative & ability to be autonomous
Excellent interpersonal skills and strong written and verbal communication skills
Knowledge of insurance accounting is a plus
Customer service experience a plus
2 to 4 years work experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related degree. Advanced degree or CPA a plus.
Accounting and technical know-how, basis for understanding of accounting, and advanced technical systems. Experience working in multiple systems simultaneously.
Expert knowledge of MS Office suite
