Reporting to and collaborating with the Director, Controller & Financial Operations and supervising the Payroll Accountant(s) and Payroll Assistant(s), this position serves as a mid-level manager with oversight of the Payroll department. The Payroll Manager will oversee and supervise USNH payroll functions, ensuring pay is processed on time, accurately, and in compliance. The successful candidate will: â¢Implement, maintain, and review payroll processes to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll for 14,000 employees. â¢Prepare and maintain accurate records and reports of payroll transactions. â¢Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices. â¢Identify and recommend improvements to payroll processes, systems, and procedures. This position will have the flexibility of a hybrid work schedule (partially remote and in-office). Periodic campus/system office visits will be required.
â¢7+ years minimum of professional experience in a field related to payroll accounting, benefits and compensation, and/or human resources, with 3+ years minimum supervisory experience. â¢Demonstrated expertise in payroll functions, disbursement, and payroll-related income taxation requirements. â¢Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. â¢Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. â¢Understanding of and proficiency in navigating computerized financial systems. â¢Ability to set concrete goals, develop aligned strategy, and make data-informed decisions. â¢Excellent mathematical, organizational, and analytical skills. â¢Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with ability to interface with diverse audiences including employees/staff, faculty, students, and the general public. â¢Ability to build consensus, set direction, and lead through change. â¢Desire to work in a collaborative environment with System and institutional leaders, as well as colleagues in other financial affairs departments and human resources. â¢Ability to perceive and balance multiple interests and perspectives. â¢Openness to 360-degree feedback and desire to learn and grow continuously.
